Innovations Support Cleaning Improvement

As a market leader we work with our customers to devise, configure and implement fully-integrated solutions that are fine-tuned to their business and operational requirements. We have a unique ability to provide a complete set of products, tools, machines and services to support every aspect of a cleaning operation.

This concept of a total solution from a single vendor is not new but it does require that we adapt to business and regulatory pressures and take advantage of new technologies. Innovation is a key requirement in many cleaning operations because it can support other objectives such as improving results or reducing costs.

But integration is about more than simply making existing products work with one another. Our approach is to introduce innovations and unique technologies across our portfolio to ensure customers can benefit from new ways of working while still dealing with a single market-leading supplier.

When we were planning for the forthcoming Cleaning Show in London we decided to focus on ten of the many innovations that we have introduced in the decade since we last exhibited at the event:

TASKI swingobot 2000: the latest-generation “hands-free” scrubber drier is 25% more productive than the previous model. It gets on with automatic floorcare and liberates cleaning staff to focus on more important and value-added tasks.

Internet of Clean (IoC): our growing set of web-enabled and smart tools for this rapidly emerging business platform provide enhanced insight, oversight and management of cleaning operations.

Oxivir Excel and Oxivir Sporicide: a unique set of fast-acting, broad-spectrum infection prevention products with unique, patented Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide as the active ingredient. They are effective against a wide range of pathogens including bacteria, viruses and yeasts.

Moonbeam3TM Disinfection Technology©: delivering powerful UV-C light to provide fast broad area disinfection of high-touch surfaces in hospitals and care homes in as little as three minutes when used in conjunction with normal daily cleaning and infection prevention processes. This offers facilities a completely hands, chemical and fume-free way to complement existing processes with safer high-performance disinfection.

SURE: a unique and innovative range of plant-based, 100 per cent biodegradable cleaning products covering all routine and daily cleaning requirements in kitchens and washrooms including personal care.

SmartDose & QuattroSelect: the portable SmartDose and wall-mounted QuattroSelect platforms are popular with cleaning teams who want to introduce highly sustainable ultra-concentrates into their operations. Both allow fast and accurate preparation of cleaning solutions.

TASKI swingo micro 2100: ideal for busy and confined areas, this high-performance scrubber drier has an ultra-compact design and tight turning circle. Its offset mechanism capability allows it to clean right up against a wall or obstruction to remove the need for secondary and detailed cleaning.

Twister by Diversey: an innovative set colour-coded floor care pads made from recycled plastics impregnated with billions of microscopic diamonds on the working side. They are ideally used with advanced TASKI swingo scrubber driers or rotary-disc machines and water alone to deliver excellent results while making floor care operations more sustainable.

TASKI AERO: this tub vacuum cleaner is believed to be the quietest and most energy-efficient machine currently available on the professional market. The four models in the range produce only 53dB(A) of sound and utilise just 585W of electrical power in standard mode yet produce as much cleaning suction as machines rated at 1000W or more. On energy savings alone, they can pay for themselves in under three years.  Also new is the TASKI AERO BP, a unique 3-in-1 solution that can be used as a backpack vacuum, tub vacuum or blower. The backpack vacuum is ideal for cleaning areas that are difficult to access with a conventional vacuum cleaner. It is among the lightest backpack vacuums, with its ultra-slim profile and high-quality rucksack material making it extremely comfortable to carry.

TASKI Trolley: modular trolley system with wide range of components and accessories that enable millions of potential configurations to support any cleaning operation. Additions to the range planned for 2019.

We’ll be posting separate blogs about each of these in the run up to the Cleaning Show.

As a business we commit considerable investment and resources to developing and supporting our products. Robotic Cleaning Enhances Floorcare

The first generation of robotic cleaners were exciting because they offered new ways of working, powered by technologies that had never been seen in the professional building care sector. Their ability to operate on their own and liberate cleaning staff for more important and productive duties were compelling reasons for many cleaning teams to adopt them. But the second-generation machines – typified by Diversey’s TASKI SWINGOBOT 2000 scrubber drier – go further by adding enhanced cleaning performance to the undoubted benefits of robotic autonomy. This revolutionary robotic floorcare machines in one of our Top Ten Products which we’ll be highlighting in the run-up to The Cleaning Show in March.

With the TASKI SWINGOBOT 2000, the company’s engineers have introduced many of the tried-and-tested performance-boosting and sustainability-enhancing features that are established on its award-winning conventional scrubber drier range. At the same time the technologies at the heart of its robotic capabilities have been upgraded and improved. The result is a machine that is at least 25 percent more productive than the first-generation model it replaces, enabling facilities to effectively and consistently clean floors in less time.

The machine operates autonomously via sonar, 2D LIDAR, touch shield sensors and floor-detector sensors that work in harmony with the robot’s computer software. It avoids obstacles in its path and will intelligently stop as soon as any change in its environment is detected.

Numerous intelligent TASKI functions are included as standard on the TASKI SWINGOBOT 2000. These include Intelli-Trak which measures the on-site performance of the machine and enables remote software updates.
Cleaning performance enhancements include TASKI IntelliDose. This closed-pouch dilution control system enables the use of highly-sustainable ultra-concentrate formulations for all common floorcare tasks. Solutions are always prepared automatically onboard the machine to the correct specification for optimum performance with no wastage. At the same time the machine’s TASKI IntelliFlow technology ensures the correct amount of solution is applied to the floor according to the speed of travel, reducing wastage and helping ensure the floor is dry after cleaning and ready for immediate use. Finally, the machines can be equipped with the most suitable cleaning pad for the type of floor and application selected from the extensive TASKI range. This includes Twister by Diversey, an innovative set of thirteen floor care pads made from 100 per cent recycled PET that deliver exceptional results with water lone, helping to enhance the sustainability of the cleaning operation.

TASKI IntelliDose and TASKI IntelliFlow control the amount of cleaning product and water used by TASKI machines.

Although robotic cleaners can be used in many settings, they deliver maximum efficiency when able to roam freely in large and open areas with few obstructions for the majority of the time. This makes them ideal for applications such as hospital corridors, airports, sports halls, conference centres and other areas where regular cleaning is needed to maintain high standards of hygiene or the appearance of the facility.

This is where the TASKI SWINGOBOT 2000 scrubber drier offers significant advantages over conventional cleaning techniques. Once programmed using simple instructions it can work on its own, with minimal direct supervision, to cover large areas quickly and efficiently following a predetermined path. Its in-built routines ensure that it covers the entire area in the minimum amount of time without any undue overlapping or missing any parts of the floor.

The same systems continuously monitor the status and performance of the machine and, with their connectivity to the Internet of Clean, can automatically alert managers to a wide range pre-determined incidents. This can include reporting a collision, a low battery or some other diagnostic event. Managers can then intervene proactively and take remedial action before the machine’s performance impacts on the operation or leads to an outage.

The market for robotic floorcare machines continues to grow as more customers recognise the powerful benefits they can bring to their cleaning operations. No doubt, as yet unforeseen advances in robotic and cleaning technology will continue to drive this significant trend in the industry.

TASKI Swingo Micro Scrubber Drier Upgraded

Our UPGRADED TASKI SWINGO 2100 MICRO SCRUBBER DRIER has been shortlisted for the Tomorrow’s CONTRACT FLOORS Awards 2020.

========================================================

The updated TASKI swingo 2100µicro (micro) ultra-compact ride-on scrubber-drier from Diversey adds value and extra performance by building on the success of the original award-winning model. This latest-generation machine has been redesigned to include an innovative digital electric motor that delivers more cleaning power and uses less energy, an improved seat for better comfort, and an adjustable lockable steering wheel for enhanced ergonomics.

This ultra-compact ride-on floorcare machine offers better performance and productivity with its unique narrow-space and up-to-the-edge cleaning capabilities. The 55cm working width, 138cm overall length and less-than-180cm turning circle mean it can operate productively and safely between obstacles, pass through normal doors and be transported in standard lifts.

The offset feature – unique in the micro ride-on category – allows the machine to clean right up against walls in a single pass with no need for unproductive secondary cleaning such as wet mopping. The mechanism can project up to 14cm to the side of the machine. This capability remains under patent and is therefore unavailable on any other micro ride-on.

An all-new seat is more comfortable while being less sensitive so it can be used by lighter operatives. It now has a convenient storage tray for a mobile phone and personal items.

Power is supplied by a new brushless electric motor with digital control. This is smaller, more efficient and more reliable than conventional motors. It uses less energy which can mean longer intervals between battery charges for extended uninterrupted working times and higher productivity. The additional power has enabled brush pressure to increase significantly by 62% for superior cleaning performance. The brushless design promotes reliability and reduces servicing: there are no brushes to fail which eliminates the need to replace them or the whole motor.

The operator console has been improved with all-new steering wheel height adjustment for enhanced ergonomics.

Make Time for the Little Things

School buildings can take a bit of a bashing during the year and keeping them clean can be pretty tricky. Daily cleaning is key but alongside their usual tasks, school cleaning teams will need to deal with a whole range of other problems caused by accidents, deliberate acts or the sheer volume and throughput of pupils and students. Fortunately, Diversey has a complete range of specialist products designed to deal with all manner of cleaning problems and make the life of the hard-pressed cleaning team just a little bit easier:

Sprint Spitfire: a powerful ready-to-use heavy duty spray cleaner that is ideal for removing graffiti and other stains from most alkaline resistant hard surfaces. Its powerful formulation is based on a mix of detergents and solvents that quickly and efficiently removes mineral and vegetable oils. It is particularly efficient for removing stains such as ink, marker, pencil, lipstick, black heel marks, smoke films, greasy food and other tenacious marks.

Tapi Gum: a fast and effective ready-to-use aerosol freeze spray. It quickly freezes the gum and allows safe and easy removal from most hard surfaces, carpets and upholstery.

Sani Mould Out: a powerful ready-to-use grout cleaner that removes mould, mildew and fungus from ceramic and tiled areas in cloakrooms, washrooms and changing rooms. Its highly alkaline formulation also removes body fat and soap scum which helps to prevent bad odours and promotes better hygiene.

Good Sense Breakdown: removes unsightly organic residues and sources of smells in washrooms and similar areas. Can be used dilute for regular preventative cleaning or poured neat down sinks and drains for rapid results. Suitable for carpets and upholstery. Contains ONT Odour Neutralising Technology. Available in 5 litre and (coming soon) 1 litre containers.

These are just a few of Diversey’s problem-solvers and specialist products. School cleaning teams can use them alongside their daily cleaning products, tools and equipment to keep their facilities clean, hygienic and safe for pupils, staff and visitors.

Summer Carpet Care

Schools and colleges often have carpets in meeting rooms, corridors, libraries, staff rooms, or offices. A three-stage approach to keeping these areas clean – daily vacuuming, intermittent encapsulation cleaning and periodic deep extraction cleaning – will pay dividends in the long run. It can protect and refresh the carpet and prolong its life to avoid the need for expensive replacements.

Intermittent and deep cleaning are essential because – even with daily vacuuming – schools and colleges are busy places so soiling will inevitably work its way into the fabric of the carpet. Interim cleaning helps keep carpets looking better for longer and extends the interval between deep cleaning which generally requires more drying time. Summer is the ideal time for schools and colleges to undertake these vital tasks because there is more time to remove furniture and other obstructions to get the work done efficiently.

Diversey’s innovative TASKI procarpet machine is ideal for both these tasks because it incorporates interim encapsulation and deep extraction capabilities in a single design. This removes the need to purchase separate machines for these two core tasks, saving capital, supply chain and storage costs.  Operators also retain the flexibility to undertake the application that best suits their needs based on turnaround time and soil levels.

The machine is available in two versions – the TASKI procarpet 30 and TASKI procarpet 45 – which are simple to use. This promotes productivity and offers lower total cost of ownership while delivering excellent performance and results.

The encapsulation function supports fast and efficient intermediate carpet care. Operators simply add Enhance Foam Shampoo to the built-in solution tank. The machine is then run back and forth over the carpet in its encapsulation mode. Soiling is broken down and captured by the product which dries quickly to form a powder which is picked up using a conventional vacuum cleaner. The carpet is out of commission for a minimal time and can be returned to use as soon as it has dried and vacuuming is complete, typically within around half an hour.

When deeper cleaning is required, the TASKI procarpet is simply switched into its extraction mode. A suitable product from Diversey’s extensive range is added to the tank. Enhance Extraction Cleaner – a low-foaming Woolsafe-approved extraction cleaner with a fresh fragrance – is an ideal choice for schools and colleges because it can be used on all types of carpet. Agitation by the machine promotes soil breakdown and ensures excellent penetration of the product into the pile to reach and remove even the deepest soiling. The machine’s suction pick-up mechanism extracts the soiled solution and the carpet is left to dry before it can be used again the following day.

The three-stage approach to carpet care is always advisable but sometimes a little extra is required. Stubborn stains can be removed with a suitable product such as Enhance Spot and Stain Remover. Chewing gum – which may be a particular problem in schools and colleges – can be removed with Enhance Anti Gum.

Diversey can advise on the right combination of products, tools and equipment to achieve optimum cleaning results. Cleaning floors in schools and colleges should not be overlooked but nor does it need to be onerous. Choosing the right products and equipment and using them correctly will keep processes simple while ensuring carpets remain as good as new for years and delaying the time when a replacement is required.

Sustainable Summer School Floorcare

Floorcare comes high up the list of summer maintenance tasks in schools and colleges because the long holiday allows enough time to work on large areas without interruptions. Educational facilities increasingly want to reduce reliance on single-use plastics and chemicals as part of their overall sustainability objectives and to meet the expectation of their students. Working without chemicals simplifies cleaning processes, creates a healthier environment for students, staff and cleaners, and reduces routine machine maintenance burdens. Twister by Diversey floorcare pads meet these objectives and offer a highly effective, economical and sustainable alternative to traditional equipment.

Hard floors in schools and colleges are made from a wide range of materials such as vinyl, composites, linoleum, terrazzo, stone, tile and even concrete. These all take a battering during the school year and each day they must deal with a constant barrage of shoes, wheels, desks and chairs and harmful contaminants. Stresses like these can quickly cause wear and premature damage without proper floor care maintenance. Protecting floors throughout their lifetime can pose a real challenge. Yet, school administrators expect a variety of floor surfaces to hold up over time and withstand the impact of day-to-day school activities.

It is imperative to understand that every type of flooring material requires regular maintenance to ensure longevity. The ideal floor care recipe is a combination of daily cleaning and scheduled restorative cleaning, typically undertaken during the long summer break in schools and colleges. It’s important to find the right products, machines and tools that promote efficiency, cost savings and cleaning consistency.

Twister is a complete set of colour-coded floorcare pads for hard floors.

Twister is an innovative set of colour-coded floor care pads. They can be used with water alone on most types of hard floor, including those found in schools and colleges, for routine and daily cleaning as well as periodic maintenance. Used this way the pads reduce chemical usage by 100%, floor pad costs by 66%, and weight of consumables by 98% (which also saves transport and handling) compared with traditional products.

The pads are ideally used with Diversey’s advanced TASKI swingo scrubber driers or rotary-disc machines but they can, in fact, be used with machines from most leading manufacturers.

The pads are made from recycled plastics impregnated with billions of microscopic diamonds on the working side. Pads for different applications and types of floor are manufactured by changing the size and combination of the microscopic diamonds. The pads last three times longer than traditional products and significantly reduce the need for periodic maintenance. They are generally less abrasive than corresponding conventional alternatives which helps to protect the floor while giving a smoother and improved appearance. The diamond impregnated side of the pad is coloured and works as a wear indicator.

Twister pads are ideally used with TASKI scrubber driers and rotary disc machines.

Many users find that regular use of Twister pads reduces and even removes the need for periodic maintenance. However, when this is required selecting the right pads from the range can provide the additional abrasion to remove existing finishes and deposits from the floor. Once these residues have been removed, switching to less abrasive pads from the range will – with regular use – maintain a micro-polished surface that is more resistant to soiling. This helps to make ongoing daily cleaning simpler and quicker for hard-pressed school and college cleaning teams.
